Pit Bull Shot in the Mouth by Northwest Arkansas Police Officer

The City of Cave Springs pays veterinarian bills for treatment.
CAVE SPRINGS, AR - A loose pit bull in Northwest Arkansas is being treated after it was shot in the mouth when running at a police officer with its teeth showing.

It happened Friday in Cave Springs when a family called the city about a stray pit bull running on their street and getting in their garage over the last few days.

The family told police the dog was not aggressive but was hungry and would run "full-force" toward people.

When an officer arrived, the animal charged toward him, so he drew his gun and shot it in the mouth.

Now, a family on the same street is adopting it, so the City of Cave Springs is paying for the vet bills.
