LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas Insurance Commissioner Jay Bradford says opposition from the legislature has ended any plans for a state-run Health Benefits Exchange.
Bradford said in a news release Friday that eligible Arkansans will instead enroll in the federal health care program beginning in October 2013.
Bradford had supported the state-run exchange as a way for Arkansas to have more control over the health care system. He says Arkansans will now fall under the Federal Health Benefits Exchange program.
A bill authorizing the establishment of a state-run exchange died in the Legislature earlier this year.
