ROGERS, Ark. (AP) — Officials with Hobbs State Park are conducting prescribed burns this week as part of a land management program.

Officials say specially trained crews will conduct the burns in the Huckleberry Area and the Devil's Gap area, keeping temperature, wind speed and fuel moisture in mind.

The Devil's Gap burn is set for Wednesday in the area of Devil's Gap Road, Highway 127 and Oxford Place. The Huckleberry burn began Tuesday and is located in the area of Rambo, Saw Mill and Huckleberry roads.

Officials use prescribed or controlled burns to reduce the risk of wildfires by removing fuel levels from the forest floor.
