LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — A Jonesboro businessman says he won't seek the Democratic nomination for an east Arkansas congressional seat.
Steve Rockwell announced Monday that he won't run next year for the 1st District seat held by freshman Republican Rep. Rick Crawford. Rockwell, part owner of a publishing business, had been considered a potential candidate for the seat and said in October he was leaning toward running.
Rockwell said that he believed he could have won, but now was not the right time. Rockwell said he believed that Americans were "rightfully" angry with Washington.
State Rep. Clark Hall of Marvell is the only Democrat who has announced a bid to challenge Crawford. Chad Causey, who won the Democratic nomination in 2010 but lost to Crawford, in September said he wouldn't run.
