Searcy Beginning Year-Long "Energy Smart" Campaign

Officials with the city, Entergy Arkansas, CenterPoint Energy and Harding University gather Thursday for kickoff ceremony.
SEARCY, AR - The city of Searcy (White County) is set to begin a year-long energy savings campaign.

In a kick-off ceremony Thursday morning, Searcy Mayor David Morris will deliver a Proclamation for the Day to officially begin the campaign that's being called "Searcy Energy Smart: Save Energy, Save Money and Save the Environment."

During the ceremony, Entergy Arkansas will present Harding University with an incentive check for $99,000 for interior and exterior lighting retrofits and interior lighting controls. CenterPoint Energy will present Harding an incentive check for $94,200 for 95-percent AFUE furnaces and tankless water heaters.
Searcy Energy Smart is a Searcy Regional Chamber of Commerce initiative to increase awareness about saving energy and the environment. Home owners, retail businesses, and industries that participate in the various energy and environmental programs will save energy and reduce their utility bills.

All Entergy Arkansas customers who attend the Thursday morning news conference at 11 o'clock will receive free air conditioning tune-ups, a free 4-pack of CFL light bulbs and a free advanced power strip (while supplies last). There will also be a drawing for two free home energy assessments.
