Series of Earthquakes in Van Buren County

Nine tremors reported between Damascus and Clinton so far this month.
VAN BUREN COUNTY, AR - A series of earthquakes has been reported over the last week in Van Buren County.

Today alone, three tremors have been noted (see graph below).

In all, nine tremors have been reported between Damascus and Clinton since May 3rd.

None of the quakes has registered stronger than 2.0 in magnitude.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), earthquakes measuring 3.0 and under are not felt except by a very few under especially favorable conditions.

The USGS says magnitude measures the energy released at the source of the earthquake and is determined from measurements on seismographs.
