BLYTHEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — A special prosecutor has been appointed to handle a case involving allegations of voter fraud in Mississippi County.

The Jonesboro Sun reports that H.G. Foster will serve as special prosecutor in the case involving ballots cast in the June 12 runoff election.

Prosecutor Scott Ellington requested a special prosecutor in the case, citing his own conflict of interest. Ellington was on the runoff ballot for the Democratic nomination for the 1st Congressional District.

Ellington won the runoff by fewer than 300 votes.

The Mississippi County Election Commission says three ballots have been sent to the prosecutor for review.
