Update: The National Weather Service says the damage to the barn was "clearly thunderstorm wind damage" as opposed to a tornado.
MONTICELLO, AR - The strong storms that moved through the state Tuesday night blew a horse barn off of its foundation and across a parking lot at the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
The barn housed 11 horses owned by students who are members of the UAM rodeo team. None of the horses were injured during the storm, according to Rusty Jones, rodeo coach.
The barn was blown across the rodeo parking area and damaged three livestock trailers, according to Jim Brewer, Director of Media Services.
The storm also snapped a power line and damaged UAM’s Indoor Practice Facility at the north end of Convoy Leslie-Cotton Boll Stadium.
There were no injuries reported.
