LITTLE ROCK – The Little Rock Sustainability Summit will be held Thursday, April 11, 2013 in the Great Hall of the Clinton Presidential Library, the Little Rock Sustainability Commission announced Tuesday.

The Sustainability Summit serves as an annual gathering of environmental, business and civic leaders to discuss and promote “green” efforts from those inside the City of Little Rock to the larger global marketplace.

This year’s keynote speaker is Chris Schraeder, Senior Manager of Sustainability at Walmart. The Sustainability Summit will feature a panel discussion of sustainable business and manufacturing practices at the Little Rock Port and will be moderated by City Manager Bruce Moore. Del Boyette, former Executive Director of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, will present on the economics of sustainability. Mayor Mark Stodola will welcome the audience with a special presentation.

Businesses, non-profits and individuals are invited to submit nominations for the annual Sustain the Rock Awards to be announced at the Sustainability Summit. Award nomination forms may be found at http://tinyurl.com/sustaintherockawards2013. Nominations are accepted in five categories and are due no later than 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 2. “Building on last year’s success, we’ve put together an even better event for 2013,” said City of Little Rock Sustainability Officer Melinda Glasgow. “This will be a great event to engage a diverse group of participants who are the decision makers and the practitioners of sustainability in Little Rock.”
