REW COUNTY, AR- A 16-year-old is being held while Drew County investigators investigate whether he intentionally shot his father in the leg.
The Drew County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to a residence on Hwy 35 East in reference to a shooting around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.
36-year-old Johnny Pemberton had been shot in the upper part of his right leg.
According to witnesses, Pemberton and his wife had an argument that moved to a neighbor's porch.
The 16-year-old son of the couple followed with a loaded 12-gauge, according to investigators.
After words were exchanged, the gun went off.
The case is still under investigation at this time and it is unknown if the gun was discharged intentionally or accidentally.
The juvenile was arrested and placed in detention.
Johnny Pemberton was transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
