UAMS Breast Cancer Program Awarded $400,000+

Money comes from 2012 televised charitable shoe sale.
LITTLE ROCK, AR (News Release) - The Breast Cancer program at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has been awarded a check generated by the 19th Annual QVC's "FFANY shoes on sale," held in October 2012.

A check in the amount of $407,005 was presented by the Fashion Footwear Association of New York and QVC representatives to Cancer Institute Director Peter Emanuel, M.D. and V. Suzanne Klimberg, M.D., director of the UAMS Breast Cancer Program, in support of their breast cancer research and education institutions.

The Breast Cancer Program at UAMS is accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), which is a program of the American College of Surgeons representing national organizations, dedicated in the improvement of the quality care and also the monitoring of outcomes for patients with breast diseases.

Since its inception, QVC presents "FFANY Shoes On Sale" has sold more than 1 million pairs of shoes and has generated over 41 million to benefit leading breast cancer research.

The Fashion Footwear Charitable Organization was created to support ongoing research and education programs in the fight against breast cancer and is supported by members of the FFANY.
