LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences has opened two new cancer research labs in Little Rock.

The labs opened Friday on the ninth and 11th floors of the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute with U.S. Sens. Mark Pryor and John Boozman on hand.

The ninth-floor lab will be used for research into cancers such as multiple myeloma, leukemia and lymphoma. The 11th-floor lab will be used for research into brain, skin, breast and cervical cancers.

The project was paid for with a nearly $10.5 million grant from the National Institutes of Health.
