LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas is expected to receive $11 million in emergency agricultural assistance to help the state recover from natural disasters last year.

The money is part of more than $300 million in aid headed to 33 states and Puerto Rico that Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack is expected to announce on Wednesday.

Vilsack told The Associated Press ahead of the announcement that the disaster funds will be used for financial and technical assistance to help rebuild and repair land damaged by flooding, drought, tornadoes and other natural disasters.

Last year, tornadoes swept across parts of the state. Floods and weeks of scorching temperatures without much rain hurt farmers, too.
