Update: Fugitive Shot Dead at Rockport Walmart Store

Wednesday morning incident happened around 7:30 in store parking lot.
Update (11:25 a.m.):
LITTLE ROCK, AR (News Release) - Special Agents of the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division are investigating a shooting incident which occurred this morning in Rockport (Hot Spring County) involving a local police officer and a wanted fugitive.

About 7:30, Hot Spring County authorities responded a robbery call from the Wishbone Store along Highway 84 near Bismarck.

A short time later, a Rockport police officer spotted a vehicle matching the description of a vehicle believed to have been driven by the robbery suspect.

The pick-up truck was stopped by police on a Walmart parking lot between Malvern and Rockport. The driver was ordered to exit the vehicle. The officer reported hearing a gunshot from inside the truck and returned gunfire toward the driver.

Brandon Rennie Turner, 34, of Donaldson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Turner was also wanted by Hot Springs Police in connection with an attempted capital murder and aggravated robbery.

Turner’s body has been transported to the State Crime Lab for a determination and cause of death.

An investigative file will be submitted to the prosecuting attorney for review.

ROCKPORT, AR - A shooting has been reported this morning at a Walmart store in Rockport (Hot Spring County).

The Malvern Police Department confirms there has been a shooting but says it's being handled by the Rockport Police Department.

Arkansas State Police say they've been called in to help with a "use of force" investigation in the incident, but provide no other details.

Sources tell FOX16 News that a man police had been looking for in a July 1 shooting incident in Hot Springs may have been involved in this morning's incident at Rockport.

Our reporter on the scene has seen a vehicle towed from the area this morning that fits the description of the vehicle the Hot Springs shooting suspect was believed to have been driving.
