The winter weather in Arkansas is prompting the Red Cross to get ready to help anyone who may be affected.

The agency is also sharing tips on what people can do to help themselves be ready for power outages.

Brigette Williams, Community Affairs Director with the Red Cross in the Little Rock area, joined us by phone this morning.

"This is the time to follow our three big tips- stay informed, make a plan and have a kit. The daily travel across regions whether for business or pleasure, not to mention school activities increases the number of people who should be aware of and prepared for effects of the storm," she said.
