Razorbacks to Host Military Appreciation Day

In honor of those men and women who are serving or have served our nation in the armed services, Razorback Athletics will host Military Appreciation Day at the Arkansas vs. Samford football game at War Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 7.
FAYETTEVILLE, AR – In honor of those men and women who are serving or have served our nation in the armed services, Razorback Athletics will host Military Appreciation Day at the Arkansas vs. Samford football game at War Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 7.

Razorback Athletics has teamed up with the University of Arkansas’ Veterans Resource and Information Center (VRIC) to help distribute donated tickets to various military groups to attend the game. Through its game sponsorship, AT&T will provide 100 tickets to military personnel to attend the game. Fans, businesses and other organizations also have the opportunity to purchase tickets to the game which will be donated to those military groups identified by the VRIC including the Arkansas National Guard, the Little Rock Air Force Base and University of Arkansas student veterans. Groups that purchase 50 or more tickets for military personnel will be recognized on the video board at the game.

“We invite Razorback fans to join with us in honoring the contributions of the dedicated men and women of our military as part of Military Appreciation Day,” Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long said. “Thanks to the support of AT&T and the generosity of Razorback fans, we will be able to distribute game tickets to designated military personnel. It is fitting that as we host these individuals, we do so at a venue dedicated to those who have served our country. We are looking forward to this special event and welcoming these true American heroes to War Memorial Stadium.”

To purchase tickets to be donated, fans should go online to the tickets page at ArkansasRazorbacks.com and click on the Military Appreciation Day Ticket Donation button.  Single game tickets are currently on sale to Razorback Foundation members and season ticket holders and will be made available to the general public on Thursday. Single game tickets for the Samford game are $55.

Season ticket holders who are not able to attend the game and would like to donate their tickets to military personnel, may do so by sending the hard tickets to the Razorback Ticket Center, Attn: Military Appreciation Day Donation, 1295 S. Razorback Road, Suite B, Fayetteville, AR 72701. Tickets must be post-marked no later than Aug. 19 to be utilized for the program. Please note, the Razorback Ticket office is unable to re-print or transfer Little Rock tickets for donation as part of this program.

Military Appreciation Day will include a variety of different events including a special pre-game ceremony and other presentations. In advance of Military Appreciation Day, all military groups are also encouraged to submit photos to neveryieldphotos@gmail.com for use in a special video board presentation during the game.

On game day, University of Arkansas students sitting in the student section will receive an official Military Appreciation Day rally towel courtesy of Associated Student Government. Additional details regarding game day festivities will be announced in the coming weeks.

War Memorial Stadium was originally built as a tribute to Arkansans who had given their lives in the service of their country during the two great World Wars. It has grown, over time, as a living tribute to all Arkansans who have served and paid the ultimate price for their country.
