FAYETTEVILLE, AR - Freshman right-handed pitcher Trey Killian has been named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week, as announced on Monday by the league office.
A native of Mountain Home, Ark., Killian is the second Razorback to earn SEC Freshman of the Week honors this season. Freshman left-handed pitcher Colin Poche was also named SEC Freshman of the Week earlier in the year.
Killian was dominant in his start in Arkansas’ 8-2 win over San Diego State last Saturday, throwing seven no-hit innings and striking out seven to earn his second win of the season. Killian retired the first 17 Aztec batters he faced and carried a perfect game until two outs in the sixth. He only allowed two batters to reach during his seven innings, one on a walk and the other reached on an error. Killian tossed 84 pitches, 61 of those for strikes, in the outing with 72.6 percent of his deliveries going for strikes.
For the season, the freshman righty has a 2-1 record with a 0.86 ERA in four appearances, including three starts. In 21 innings of work, Killian has allowed four runs, two earned, on six hits and struck out 22, while only issuing one walk. Opponents are batting just .088 against him.
Killian and the rest of the Arkansas baseball team return to action on Tuesday when they open a two-game series vs. Alabama A&M. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. on Tuesday and 3:05 p.m. on Wednesday.
