FAYETTEVILLE, AR – Michael Bernal hit a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift White to a 5-4 victory on Tuesday afternoon at Baum Stadium.

With the victory, White clinches the first best-of-five Red-White series three games to one. The second best-of-five series is scheduled to start on Thursday with first pitch set for 3 p.m. Game two is scheduled for Friday at 2:30 p.m. The third game of the series will be Sunday, with “if necessary” games four and five on Tuesday, October 1 and Wednesday, October 2. Start times for the final three games of the series will be announced at a later date.

With the game tied at four in the bottom of the 10th, White put together a game-winning rally to clinch the series. With one out, Joe Serrano singled through the left side of the infield and then stole second. Bernal then sent a 2-2 pitch into left-center field for a base hit, scoring Serrano from second with the game-winning run.

Serrano led the way at the plate for White, going 3-for-5 with two runs scored, while Bernal and Eric Fisher each had two hits. Bernal drove in one run and scored once, while Fisher had two RBI and a run scored. Matt Brown and Garrett Rucker each had two hits for Red and Jake Wise drove in a pair of runs.

Trey Killian earned the win in relief for White, striking out two in two scoreless innings. Chris Oliver took the loss for Red, allowing a run on two hits in one inning of work.

The offenses for both teams got off to fast starts as each team plated three runs in the first. Red got its three runs on a two-run double from Wise and a RBI single from Brown. White’s three runs came on a two-RBI double from Fisher and a RBI groundout by Krisjon Wilkerson.

White took its first lead of the game in the bottom of the fourth on a RBI single to left by Clark Eagan. Red answered back with a run in the top of the fifth on a RBI double by Andrew Benintendi, tying the game at four. The game would remain tied until White’s heroics in the bottom of the 10th.
