Women's Basketball Team Opens Practice Tuesday

The University of Arkansas women’s basketball team tipped off the 2013-14 season with the first official day of practice Tuesday.
FAYETTEVILLE, AR – The University of Arkansas women’s basketball team tipped off the 2013-14 season with the first official day of practice Tuesday.

The @RazorbackWBB team has been working on conditioning, weights and individual workouts until the entire team came together today for the first of five consecutive practices to start the year.

Returners senior Keira Peak, juniors Calli Berna and Jhasmin Bowen and sophomores Melissa Wolff and Joey Bailey are back to lead a very young Razorback team this season.

“It was great to get out there and get that first practice under our belts,” Arkansas head coach Tom Collen said.  “We were excited to see a lot of what we worked on over the summer and in our individual practices carry over to today.  We expect that we will have a pretty good first week of practice as we get the season underway.”

The Razorbacks will continue practice using about 45 days to get in 30 practices before the team’s first and only exhibition game on Nov. 3, when they host Missouri Southern.  The first official game of the season is Nov. 8, against Sam Houston State when the team welcomes area elementary students in the annual Elementary Day game tipping at 11 a.m.

Tickets are available for the season and for single games.  Log on to ArkansasRazorbacks.com or call 1-800-982-HOGS.
