East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - The New York Giants signed running back Brandon Jacobs for a second tour of duty with the team on Tuesday.
NJ.com reported that the deal is for one year.
Jacobs, 31, spent the first seven years of his career with the Giants, accumulating 4,849 yards and 56 touchdowns on 1,078 carries. He signed with the San Francisco 49ers for the 2012 season, but appeared in just two games and had five carries for seven yards.
The Giants lost running back Andre Brown for the bulk of the season after he broke his leg during the final preseason game, while Week 1 starter David Wilson fumbled twice in New York's 36-31 loss to Dallas.
Brown is currently on injured reserve with a designation to return and cannot be activated until Week 9 at the earliest.
The Giants released defensive end Adewale Ojomo on Monday to make room on the 53-man roster.
