Staying Cloudy and Mild

August begins much like July ended with clouds and much below average temperatures.
August begins much like July ended with clouds and much below average temperatures. July ended up tied for the 3rd coolest July on record for Little Rock with an average temperature of 77.5 degrees. This is the coolest July average temperature in Little Rock since 1906. Over 7.2 inches of rain fell in Little Rock this July, which is over twice the monthly average. It is less than a quarter inch short of the 10th wettest July on record. The wettest July on record was in 2009 with nearly a foot of rain.  A slow moving upper air system will keep Arkansas cloudy through Friday with a few showers around. Highest rain chances Friday will be across Southern Arkansas with some showers around. Isolated showers are likely Central and North. Clouds will once again hold temperatures well below average with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s. A bit more sunshine is expected for Saturday, although a few spotty showers are still possible. Rain chances continue to diminish into next week with more Summer like temperatures.
