Hot Afternoon, Stormy Evening

The summer heat returns in full force today with thermometers spiking up to the mid-upper 90's. Later this evening strong storms are possible.
This Thursday will be hot with thermometers shooting for the mid upper 90's.  At the same time, heat index values will push toward 100 degrees.  Toward the dinner hour, a cold front will be approaching our northern border.  This frontal boundary and a good stack of moisture will allow strong thunderstorms to develop north of I-40.  Eventually the thunderstorms will weaken Thursday night but they should slide southward and give parts of Central Arkansas a decent shot at rain.

The cold front will linger on top of Arkansas on Friday giving us another opportunity at wet, stormy weather.  Besides the rainy outlook at times, there will be moments where the sunshine will come out and warm up our atmosphere.  Temperature wise, we look to stay in the mid-upper 80's most of the day.

Our frontal boundary will slowly run its course over the weekend and give Arkansas more of this fall-like weather we've enjoy lately.
