Still Hot for Now

Staying hot for now, but higher rain chances by the weekend
The heat continues today, but not quite as hot as the last couple of days. Higher rain chances toward the end of the week into the weekend will help to cool things down a bot. Partly cloudy skies across the State this evening with only a few isolated showers across Northern Arkansas. These showers will die off quickly by about sunset. A stalled front to our North over Missouri is triggering some showers and thunderstorms, but most of this activity will stay well North tonight and tomorrow. Temperatures are well into the 90s on the South side of the front, with heat index values close to 100 in some spots. Temperatures across the State are in the low 90s with heat index values in the mid to upper 90s. Mostly dry tonight and Thursday with only a spotty afternoon shower during the afternoon. An approaching upper air disturbance along with increasing Gulf moisture will bring higher rain chances by Friday into Saturday. Temperatures will trend slightly cooler with highs in the 80s by the weekend.
