Much colder air has invaded Arkansas behind an Arctic cold front. An upper air disturbance moving into the cold air is spreading freezing rain, sleet and snow across Northern Arkansas tonight. Rain over Central Arkansas will switch to freezing rain Friday morning as temperatures fall below freezing. Ice will begin to accumulate mainly on elevated surfaces Friday morning into the early afternoon.
An ice storm warning is in effect for much of Central Arkansas through Friday, including the greater Little Rock area. The greatest impact for this storm will be for Northern Arkansas, with significant accumulations of ice, sleet and snow. Significant icing is possible for Central Arkansas as well, especially North of I-40. Ice accumulations will be great enough to cause some power outages.
