Do you suspect your dog might have an ear infection? Look for these symptoms.
- Scratching and rubbing the ears, or around the ears
- An odor coming from the ears
- Discharge from the ears
- Redness and swelling
- Scabs on the outside of the ear
- Unusual head shaking, or tilting of the head to one side
- Trouble hearing
The symptoms can also signal other potential issues. If you suspect your dog has an ear infection it's important to take him or her to the vet.
If your pet does have an infection, your vet will recommend a course of treatment. Most ear infections can be treated by keeping the ears clean and applying medication.
