Many medical centers, agencies, and groups offer educational materials to help cancer patients and their families. Your doctor or a local hospital or clinic can help you obtain information on these and other local resources. The American Cancer Society is a major national resource that offers general information, educational materials, patient assistance, and rehabilitation programs. They also offer emotional support for people experiencing cancer and their family members. For information, call 1/800/ACS-2345. The Cancer Information Service is a toll-free information service of the National Cancer Institute. Answers to questions you may have about cancer and a variety of free written materials are available by calling 1/800/4-CANCER or 1/800/422/6237.
