Working out

Regular exercise can help you stay in shape and boost your energy, but a rigorous workout schedule can also put stress on your joints. Repetitive stress injuries can occur, especially if you perform the same exercises during each workout. Doing the same routine every day can damage your joints, ligaments, and bones. A chiropractor may be able to suggest an alternate workout schedule for you, in which you vary your activities, distance, and speed. He or she may also prescribe regular adjustments on the joints to relieve pressure on the muscles and nerves. A chiropractor can prescribe nutritional supplements to ensure that your body is receiving the vitamins and minerals it needs to replenish tired muscles. Strains, sprains, and minor aches can be treated with ice or heat therapy, or electrical stimulation of the muscles. Because the muscles and joints of the back are used in so many different sports, anyone who works out runs the risk of spine or back injuries. Regular adjustments to the spine may help to prevent injuries and muscle strains, especially if you have a history of back problems. Also, it's a good idea to consult a doctor before beginning any type of exercise program.
