Scientific evidence proves that what you eat can make a significant difference in your health and well-being. Eating well doesn't have to be complicated. The basic principles of good nutrition are easy. Whenever possible, eat and prepare fresh foods, rather than processed foods, which can contain chemicals, preservatives, and sugar. Eat more complex carbohyrdrates such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Choose lean sources of protein or vegetarian sources, such as beans, legumes, or soy products. While your body needs fat, use it sparingly and choose healthful sources like nuts, the omega 3 oils found in cold-water fish, and olive, flaxseed or walnut oil. Also try eating meals without watching TV, talking on the phone, driving, or reading. You may eat less and enjoy it more, as well as improve digestion. If you find that you're using food as a way to satisfy your emotional needs more than physical ones, you may want to consult a healthcare professional to find out what's eating you!
