Premature ejaculation can be defined as ejaculation which occurs before a man wishes it, and with minimal physical stimulation. Men with this condition may consistently ejaculate within seconds after penetration, or even before penetration takes place. However, it's less a matter of measuring the seconds or minutes that sexual activity lasts, than ensuring that both partners have time to achieve orgasm. Premature ejaculation is a common sexual dysfunction, especially among younger men. Most doctors feel it's the result of psychological factors, such as performance anxiety. Others believe that a biological component may be involved. Regardless of cause, the condition is usually responsive to treatment. Two effective methods are the stop-start technique, and the squeeze technique. With the stop-start technique, the penis is stimulated just up to the point of ejaculation, stopped until you regain control, then resumed. This is repeated, until, on the fourth series, you're allowed to ejaculate. The squeeze technique is similar, except that at the crucial moment, the penis is squeezed at the base and the top, to prevent ejaculation. A therapist may also recommend other mental and physical strategies that can be employed during intercourse. In addition, anti-depressant medications have been successful in delaying orgasm for some men. To find out more about premature ejaculation, consult a medical professional.
