Your body is designed to nurture an egg for fertilization and development into a fetus. If the egg isn't fertilized, your body cleanses itself and tries again in about a month. You can become pregnant at any time during your monthly cycle, but it's very rare to become pregnant during your period. The best time to become pregnant is around day 14 if you have a 28-day cycle. This is the time ovulation generally occurs, and is your most fertile time. If you're trying to conceive, it can't hurt to try at all points of your cycle, but special attention should be paid to timing intercourse around the time of ovulation.
