Insensitive comments

Infertility can be an uncomfortable topic to discuss even with close friends and family members. It can be even more difficult to discuss it with casual acquaintances or strangers. One of the best ways to deal with these situations is to go into them prepared. Expect people to ask questions you're not comfortable answering. Be ready for them and have an answer ready so you're not fumbling for a response. Think of something clever or witty or something that'll turn the conversation in a direction you're more comfortable with. You can avoid infertility conversations altogether or subtly change the subject. Whatever you do, don't let others bring you down. Don't be too sensitive to people's comments. They have no idea what you're going through. Perhaps they're just as uncomfortable as you are and only seem insensitive because of their uneasiness with the topic. Keep your spirits up. Try to spend a lot of time with those that support you and are aware of your situation and needs.
