In addition to charting your basal temperature to detect ovulation, there are a few other methods you might try. If you feel a slight twinge in the lower abdomen, you might be ovulating. The ovaries are located on the right and left sides of your lower abdomen and sometimes cramp during ovulation. You might notice a clear, stringy vaginal discharge around ovulation. You can also monitor the position of your cervix. When you ovulate, your cervix rises and opens for a day or so. Ovulation prediction kits are available at your pharmacy, or your doctor can do an ultrasound or blood test to see if you're ovulating.
