Sperm questions

Did you know that 40 to 50 percent of all infertility is caused by a sperm defect as a primary or contributing factor? The field of male-factor infertility is making a lot of progress, but many areas still remain a mystery. Sometimes if you have a low sperm count, you can still have children. Or, you can have a normal sperm count but be infertile. It really doesn't matter how fast your sperm swim, just how successful they are at fertilizing the egg. If you and your partner are having problems conceiving, there are some low-tech methods of producing and storing healthy sperm. Keep the testicles as cool as possible. Wear loose-fitting underwear and pants. Avoid hot tubs and hot baths. If these guidelines don't work, you might consider a semen analysis. This will test for volume, pH (P-H), concentration, motility, morphology, vitality, and white blood cells. From here, your doctor can give you further recommendations on how to maximize your chances of impregnating your partner.
