When treating the arms, liposuction is often used to remove excess fat on the underside of the upper arm, which can cause a sagging appearance. As with all liposuction procedures, treatment usually works best on those with isolated pockets of fat and good skin tone. If excess skin is the underlying problem, you may need an 'arm reduction' in addition to, or in place of, liposuction. Reduction procedures cut away extra folds of skin and can provide dramatic results, but also leave unavoidable scars. The legs tend to respond well to liposuction treatment, assuming you're a good candidate for the surgery. Depending on how you want to reshape the legs, you may choose to treat the inner thighs, outer thighs, knees, or calves. While most liposuction patients are pleased with their results, you should realize that any cellulite or other ripples you may have would still exist after the procedure. Also, you could be left with asymmetrical results from one limb to the other. The smoothness of your legs or arms following treatment will depend in part on your skin's ability to contract to the new contour. Skin that has poor elasticity may not give a tight, smooth fit.
