International copyright treaties have been around for more than a century. The earliest ones with major European nations date back to 18-87. Others were enacted throughout the 20th century. There's no such thing as international copyright protection that will cover your work worldwide. The amount of protection depends on the type of work and the laws of individual nations. Literary works, movies, and music may have different degrees of protection from country to country, depending on the terms of each treaty. Certain nations like Iraq and Afghanistan have no treaties at all, but your work will generally be safe in most industrialized nations.
