Discrimination in residential real estate
Subsection 36-05 of the Fair Housing Act addresses the issue of discrimination in residential real estate. This law says that it's illegal for any individual or corporation to engage in discriminatory practices when engaging in real estate transactions.
Discrimination in the provision of brokerage services
Subsection 36-06 of the Fair Hosing Act made it illegal to discriminate in the provision of brokerage services. Since December of 1961, the rights of individuals to participate in multiple listing services and organizations has been recognized by the federal government.
Prohibited practices
One of the most significant pieces of housing legislation ever passed was the Fair Housing Act. Additionally, many of the Civil Rights laws that were passed in the 1960's addressed the issue of housing.
Religious organization or private club exemption
One of the few exceptions made in the Fair Housing Act was that of religious organizations and private clubs and non-profit organizations associated with religious organizations.
