Many state workers' compensation laws provide a certain waiting period before an injured employee is entitled to receive any income benefits. If you are injured and return to work within a certain period of time, or you are disabled and unable to return to work past the specified waiting period, then you should receive payments for lost income from the date of your disabling injury. The income benefits are ordinarily paid weekly and continue until you return to work, up to a maximum number of weeks set by state law. It is recommended that you consult an attorney familiar with the workers' compensation law in the state where you are employed so that you understand your rights as an injured employee. For more information on workers' compensation, contact a qualified attorney.
