Getting in shape

Since you'll be the focus of attention, it's natural for a bride and groom to want to look good at their wedding festivities. Many people like to get a head start with a special fitness program. This can be as simple as taking a daily walk, or it could involve hiring a personal trainer. It's really up to you, your budget, and your physical condition. As with any exercise program, it's wise to consult a doctor before you begin. Start out slowly, and gradually increase your activity. Don't expect to get into Olympic condition overnight, and don't schedule a gruelling workout the day before the wedding. Even those in great shape will usually be sore the next day, and may have less energy. In addition to toning up, some people may wish to lose a few pounds before the ceremony. Again, don't look for results overnight. The sooner you can start, the better. If possible, it's best to lose most of your weight before you buy a dress or tux. Then, last-minute fittings can adjust the garment to your new size. Besides looking and feeling better, there's another benefit to getting in shape: regular exercise is great for relieving stress, and can help you relax during the hectic time of planning a wedding.
