Preparing your face and nails

Not only will a facial and manicure help you look your best, many people find it relaxing to enjoy a little pampering, before their big day. You can have these procedures done professionally, or enlist the help of a friend, and save money. Actually, skin preparation should start well before the wedding. Develop a regular routine based on your skin type, including cleansing, moisturizing and exfoliation. If you have problem skin, consult a dermatologist, or try over-the-counter preparations. You can also improve your skin by getting plenty of rest, and avoiding the sun. Tanned brides don't photograph as well, and why risk a sunburn? Professional treatments like facials, peels, or waxing should take place a few of days in advance: that way, skin can recover from any redness or irritation. Nails, on the other hand, should be done a bit closer to the ceremony. Just be sure they have time to dry, before you get dressed! In your manicure or pedicure, cuticles should be softened and pushed back, and the nails cleaned, shaped, and painted...even if it's only a clear coat. Men may want to treat themselves to a similar manicure, minus the polish, for an elegant, refined look.
