It's traditional for the bride and groom to exchange gifts on the day of the wedding. Jewelry is the most popular choice for the bride, but other items may be given, including porcelain figurines, a music box, or a book of poems. The groom might appreciate special cufflinks, tie tack, or perhaps a gift related to his profession. Today, most couples discuss gift choices in advance, to get a better idea of what the other might want. Or, you might consult their parents for suggestions. Either way, it's best to give a present that will last, so the bride or groom can enjoy it for many years to come. On the other hand, some couples decide that the money would be better spent on the wedding, the honeymoon, or perhaps on something for their new home. As long as both parties feel good about the decision, you can do what you wish regarding couples' gifts.
