You may count calories during the holidays, but some calories are better than others.
Candy, cookies, and processed foods are just some of the things you should avoid.
We need calories to give our bodies energy and these foods provide little nutrients and a slim chance of burning them off.
If you want to lose those extra pounds, make sure to eat vegetables, not cookies.
Registered Dietitian Kristin Kirkpatrick says, "Food is very black and white. It's either going to help you or it's going to hurt you. So, if you eat closer to the farm, if you're eating locally, and really paying attention to where your food is coming from and eating whole foods, you're really going to make a significant change in your diet."
Kirkpatrick suggests going to a dietitian to help you pick out a meal-plan of nutrient-dense foods.
