Watson Chapel Jr. High Football Player Taken to Hospital

PINE BLUFF, AR -- A 14-year-old Watson Chapel football player is in the hospital after collapsing on the field during a Jr. High football game.

It happened Thursday night.

Josh Pierce is listed in stable condition. [Update: His condition was listed as fair by Friday morning].

Watson Chapel Athletic Director John Hayden says the teen was playing defense when he went down early in the ninth grade game.

The exact cause of the teen's collapse has not been released.

The game was being played at the Watson Chapel High School field.

He was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Pine Bluff, then flown to Little Rock.
