LITTLE ROCK, AR - In this Family Health report we're taking a look at colon cancer through the eyes of one woman fighting the disease.
Also, don't forget we're having our community-wide yoga event on the outdoor terrace of the downtown Marriott in Little Rock, Saturday, March 29 at 10 a.m.
The event will include a silent auction to raise money for cancer research and awareness, and a representative from the American Cancer Society will be available to take donations.
In March of 2011, Donna Terrell’s only daughter Queah (Qway – yah) passed away from colon cancer. During her battle with cancer, Queah made a valiant effort to stay healthy by eating right and doing yoga. Donna Terrell says that this event is a way to honor her daughter’s memory, while raising awareness of colon cancer.
“I have a responsibility to speak on behalf of my daughter," said Terrell. "Even though she lost her life, she would want me to continue her fight against this terrible disease.”
Yoga is recognized as a useful method to help relieve some symptoms of chronic diseases such as cancer, arthritis, and heart disease. It has been found to lead to increased relaxation and physical fitness.
The Downtown Marriott is located at 3 Statehouse Plaza.
