Austrian researchers say while vegetarians are more physically active, drink and smoke less overall their diet leaves them in a poorer state of health when compared to other diets.
Investigators say a vegetarian diet carries elevated risks of cancer, allergies and mental health disorders.

In other health news, milk really does "do the body good" because drinking fat-free or low-fat milk may help delay the progression of knee osteo-arthritis.
A study from Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston followed more than 2,000 patients with knee osteo-arthritis for up to four years.
The researchers found women who frequently drank milk had a slower progression of the joint disease.
No such effect was found in men.
