1 Shot, 1 Hit in Head with Wrench During Fight

An altercation between two men on Friday left one shot and the other hit in the head with a wrench.
BAXTER COUNTY, AR -- An altercation between two men on Friday left one shot and the other hit in the head with a wrench, according to the Baxter County Sheriff's Office.

When Baxter County sheriffs arrived at the scene, a location northwest of Mountain Home, witnesses informed them there had been a fight between 49-year-old James William Kirk and 58-year-old Gregory Milo High.

Investigators arrived and began collecting evidence and talking to witnesses, which revealed the 911 caller lived with Kirk in a shop building owned by High.

Officials believe the two became embroiled in a physical altercation, in which Kirk struck High on the forehead with a 24-inch crescent wrech and High shot Kirk with a with a 9mm Berretta semi-automatic handgun in the upper thigh area of the left leg.

Both men were transported to Baxter Regional Medical Center. High was treated and released, while Kirk is in the ICU with what sheriffs say are non life-threatening injuries.

Sheriffs say they are continuing to investigate the incidetnt and are unsure of what started the brawl.
