PINDALL, Ark. (AP) — Authorities say one person is dead after a three-vehicle collision involving a van carrying 20 people from a Hot Springs church.

Arkansas State Police say the crash happened Thursday afternoon on U.S. 65 one mile south of Pindall in Searcy County. Authorities tell the Harrison Daily Times that the fatal crash involved a car, a pickup truck and a van carrying members of Center Fork Baptist Church who were headed to Branson, Mo.

Authorities say the car and truck were traveling south on U.S. 65 and the van was traveling north. Police have not yet said what caused the head-on crash.

The pickup's driver, 67-year-old Ronald Battershell of Marshall, was killed in the collision.

Authorities say several people in the van suffered minor injuries in the crash.

The man that was killed is my second cousin. Most all of my family is from the Marshall and Leslie area.

That is our favorite part of the state. We are there a lot. Wish the road right threw that area was better. So sorry for these people.

Very sad. That is a very hilly and curvy stetch of road. I'm surprised there aren't even more accidents through there than there are.
