WALDRON, Ark. (AP) - Twenty people have been charged with drug trafficking and firearms offenses as part of an investigation centered in Waldron.
The U.S. Attorney's office said Wednesday that 17 people were indicted in federal court and three were charged in Scott County Circuit Court as part of Operation Great Scott. More than 11 pounds of methamphetamine, about 70 pounds of marijuana, 28 firearms and more than $50,000 were seized.
Court documents show a man alleged to be part of the drug organization drove from Waldron to Irving, Texas, to retrieve meth. When Miguel Paramo was stopped in Dallas after a minor traffic accident, he was arrested for misdemeanor offenses.
Officials say they found about 4 pounds of meth when his vehicle was searched.
Paramo's attorney didn't immediately return a message seeking comment.
