3-Year-Old Boy Saves Family From Fire

The family grabbed their pet rabbit, Fonzie, and ran to a neighbors house to call 911, their house fully engulfed in flames.
FORT SMITH, AR -- You might call him a hero, but he probably doesn't comprehend what that means.

A little boy in Fort Smith is responsible for helping his family escape a fire.

Ian Taylor says the family decided to turn on the furnace for the first time this year, and about half an hour later his 3-year-old son, A.J., went into his bedroom and came back out warning his family not to go inside.

The father then looked in the bedroom, and saw the bed on fire.

The family grabbed their pet rabbit, Fonzie, and ran to a neighbors house to call 911 with their house fully engulfed in flames.

"It spread really fast. I mean, we came out of the house and less than a minute later its flames were on the roof," Ian Taylor says. "We've got a place to stay, and we'll be OK. Life goes on. There's not much I can do at this point."

The house is a total loss.

Officials say the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, but they are focusing on the furnace as a starting point.
