A Husband's Story: Eric Olson Speaks Out About His Wife's Death

Before Eric Olson attended his wife's funeral he spoke to Fox 16 in an emotional interview.
NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR -- Today, family and friends said their final goodbyes to Samantha Olson.

The 31-year-old was murdered last week while sitting in her car at a busy intersection in North Little Rock.

Just before the funeral, Samantha's husband, Eric Olson, shared his thoughts about the crime and the woman he loved.

It's only been five days since his wife's murder and while he knew the funeral would be difficult, he's doing his best to hold it together for his 11 month old little girl.

She was in the back seat of the car when her mother was shot.

Olson said, about his daughter, ""When I look at her smiles, I just go it's going to be alright. We've got something really special. It's a blessing. And she looks a lot like her mom, so yeah, she'll always be there."

The couple's daughter was in the back seat of the car when someone shot Samantha Olson last Wednesday.

Olson can't bear to think about it.

It just doesn't make sense to him and he doesn't know if it ever will.

He said, "The crime they committed is beyond just a murder because they robbed a child of her mother."

Olson finds some comfort in the hope that his daughter is too young to remember what happened and while she'll grow up without a mother, he plans to give her enough love for the both of them.

"I've really got to take the pieces of my life and put them together and move forward with my child." Olson said, "We've got to raise her the way Samantha would want her raised."

Eric Olson also told us he wants his wife's killer to be caught.

He says he can't believe that someone could shoot her in broad daylight and drive away.

Meanwhile, the search for the suspect continues and North Little Rock police are offering what they call a large reward for information leading to the arrest of the shooter.

Police say the truck, the suspect was driving, was a Ford F-150 pickup truck dark maroon in color.

It has tinted windows, chrome wheels and a possible chrome bumper.

Authorities also believe there could be an orange toolbox or welding case in the back of the truck.
