ASU students mugged after helping motorist

Two Arkansas State University students who stopped to help a motorist push a stalled car wound up being attacked and robbed.

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) — Two Arkansas State University students who stopped to help a motorist push a stalled car wound up being attacked and robbed.

The students told police they were mugged Monday evening by two men they'd stopped to help near the Groves Apartments.

Jonesboro television station KAIT reports that police say 18-year-old Bryce Conway of Mountain Home said one of the suspects first demanded money from him. Then the other suspect started to hit him.

Conway's friend, 18-year-old Christopher Cruse of Maumelle, told police he pulled one of the suspects off Conway, only to have both try to attack him. Cruse ran off and called police.

The suspects fled into the apartment complex and investigators couldn't find them.
